Board Meeting Minutes October 6, 2009

The Board of Education of Community Unit School District #202, Knox County, met in a special meeting duly called and held October 6, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the Knoxville High School Library, 600 E. Main St., Knoxville, Illinois, which is within the boundaries of said District. The President called the meeting to order and directed that the roll be called. Upon the roll being called, the following members answered and were found present:
Mr. Bogard, Mr. Callahan, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Putnam, Mr. Trulson
And the following were absent: Mr. Byom, Mr. Rickard
Also present were: Mr. Carlton, Mr. Bahnks, Mr. Eastin, Mr. Kemmer, Shanyne Aldrige, Student 'A' and parents of Student 'A'.
It was moved by Member Callahan and seconded by Member Putnam to leave Open Session and enter into Executive Session at 6:01 p.m. for the discussion of Student Disciplinary Action.
Roll call vote was as follows:
AYE: Mr. Bogard, Mr. Callahan, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Putnam, Mr. Trulson
Nay: None
Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.
It was moved by Member Callahan and seconded by Member Putnam, to leave Executive Session and enter into Open Session at 7:28 p.m.
Roll call vote was as follows:
AYE: Mr. Bogard, Mr. Callahan, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Putnam, Mr. Trulson
Nay: None
Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.
It was moved by Member Putnam and seconded by Member Callahan to uphold the current suspension of Student 'A' and finds that Student 'A' has violated the discipline code and that Student 'A' is hereby expelled for the 2009-2010 school year. However, allows Student 'A' to return under Principals' probation upon completion of current suspension. Any Level 1 violation of principals' probation will result in immediate expulsion for the remainder of the 2009-2010 school year, including all activities and all school property. The administration is also hereby directed to send Knox-Warren Special Education a referral for behavioral disordered eligibility.

Nay: None
Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.
There being no further business to come before the Board, it was moved by Member Putnam and seconded by Member Trulson that the meeting be adjourned. The President put the question to the Board and the motion unanimously carried and the meeting was so adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
