Board Meeting Minutes 5-4-09 Special Meeting

The Board of Education of Community Unit School District #202, Knox
County, met in a special meeting duly called and held May 4, 2009
at 6:00 p.m. in the Knoxville High School Home Economics Room, 600
E Main Street, Knoxville, Illinois, which is within the boundaries
of said District. The President called the meeting to order and
directed that the roll be called. Upon the roll being called, the
following members answered and were found present:
Mr. Bogard, Mr. Byom, Mr. Callahan, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Putnam
and the following were absent: Mr. Rickard and Mr. Trulson
Also present was: Mr. Larry Carlton, Mr. Chris Lensing, Mr. Shayne
Aldridge
It was moved by Member Byom and seconded by Member Johnson to exit
Open Session and enter into Executive Session at 6:02 p.m. to
discuss a Student Disciplinary Case.
Roll call vote was as follows:
AYE: Mr. Bogard, Mr. Byom, Mr. Callahan, Mr. Johnson, Mr.
Putnam
NAY: none
Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.
It was moved by Member Callahan and seconded by Member Putnam to
exit Executive Session and enter into Open Session at 7:18
p.m..
Roll call vote was as follows:
AYE: Mr. Bogard, Mr. Byom, Mr. Callahan, Mr. Johnson, Mr.
Putnam
NAY: none
Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.
It was moved by Member Putnam and seconded by Member Callahan to
find Student A guilty of vandalizing school property.
Roll call vote was as follows:
AYE: Mr. Bogard, Mr. Byom, Mr. Callahan, Mr. Johnson, Mr.
Putnam
NAY: none
Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.
It was moved by Member Callahan and seconded by Member Putnam to
exit Open Session and enter into Executive Session at 7:35 p.m. to
further discuss the Student Disciplinary Case.
Roll call vote was as follows:
AYE: Mr. Bogard, Mr. Byom, Mr. Callahan, Mr. Johnson, Mr.
Putnam
NAY: none
Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.
It was moved by Member Johnson and seconded by Member Putnam to
exit Executive Session and enter into Open Session at 8:02 p.m.
Roll call vote was as follows:
AYE: Mr. Bogard, Mr. Byom, Mr. Callahan, Mr. Johnson, Mr.
Putnam
NAY: none
Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.
It was moved by Member Byom and seconded by Member Johnson to expel
Student A for the remainder of the 2008-2009 school year, including
all school activities, the Eighth Grade promotion Program, and from
all school property, for the misconduct and gross disobedience
Student A committed when he damaged school property constituting a
violation of the District’s disciplinary policy; except that, the
District will arrange to provide Student A with the special
education and related services listed in his latest Individual
Education Plan (IEP).

AYE: Mr. Bogard, Mr. Byom, Mr. Callahan, Mr. Johnson, Mr.
Putnam
NAY: none
Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.
There being no further business to come before the Board, it was
moved by Member Callahan and seconded by Member Putnam that the
meeting be adjourned. The President put the question to the Board
and the motion unanimously carried and the meeting was so adjourned
at 8:04 p.m.
